More than 200 people lost their jobs in Nebraska and Iowa this week when a company that does DirecTV installation and service work abruptly closed.

The former employees of Premier Communications may be able to get jobs with whatever company replaces Premier as a contractor for the satellite TV service.

About 55 people who work from a building near 134th and A Streets in Omaha were told Thursday morning that they no longer had jobs. So were workers in Kearney and Lincoln.

Iowa employees in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Sioux City were let go Wednesday.

Scores of others also were out of jobs. Premier did DirecTV service work in at least 10 states. In addition to Iowa and Nebraska, they included North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas.

Executives at Premier headquarters in Oklahoma City and at DirecTV in Los Angeles could not be reached for comment Thursday night.

Jason Lenz, who was Premier's Iowa-Nebraska regional manager, said several companies might get contracts to replace Premier across the country's midsection.

Former employees of Premier can apply for jobs with the company that takes over but will have to "meet its criteria,'' Lenz said.

Employees in Omaha have not been paid since May 25 and, at one point this week, were told that they would not be paid for their work since then, said Patrick Mummey, a former manager. However, Mummey said he later was told that checks would be coming.

"There was some confusion over whether payroll will be made,'' Lenz said, but assurances have been made that final checks will be coming Monday.

A temporary firm will handle service work for customers.

Let me guess.

A willingness to bend over and take it.

You supply the liability insurance, vehicle, gasoline, vehicle maint, health benefits, tools, test equipment, special tools, mood lighting, lube, condums, bedroom or other location. linens are your responsibility along with gas for the 3-5 hours drive time.

1-3 hours paerwork each day and inventory control is also your responsibility.

dress nice and don't show up smelling like sweat

pay is $60 for the first insertion and then $5 each additional penetration.

There's no hiding the fact that Premier Communication's is/was a crappy HSP company, and the fact that there areTechs still waiting to get paid for work done in November 2007 applies to their terrible business practices. As one of the few women in the actual install business, I was expecting to see the gender-based treatment I'm usually exposed to: different rules/treatment for the 'guys' than what I receive. I was appalled to see how shoddy, ill-ran and disrespectful this company was/is across the board: (It didn't matter if you were male or female, if you breathed and put in a system, they would f*ck you) After I filed a "Unpaid Wages and OT" complaint with the WI Dept of Work Force Developement, it came to light that, why yes, installations, Upgrades, Service Calls, all the drive time between jobs and those mandatory tech meetings were supposed to be PAID, per State Law. Wow. And all along, Rick Martin sits on his throne in OK, cracking the bull whip, screaming at the 'schmucks that answered his ad's, for more! more! more!! work. Right now, there are over 46 techs/team leads from Madison who have submitted their addresses/names to the law firm of HAUS, ROMAN & BANKS, out of Madison. It's been slow going, as the lawyer presenting the paperwork has got to organize a boat load of info he needs prior to court submission, but if anybody is or knows a tech that needs a collective voice to be heard, give Mr. Haus a call at 608-257-0420. Ask for Willie Haus, and specifically ask him to send you a representation authorization form, or if you can swing through his office to pick one up, even better. It's a shame we have to fight to get paid, while "they" (Premier) has already laughed to the bank, but it's a fight worth fighting. Call me with any questions- 732-4236. Leave a message if I don't pick up.

Why is it that DTV Prime Contractors all break the exact same laws?

Would it be because they are being primed by their leaders??? LOL
Would it be because the Feds are too busy with what they feel are more serious crimes???

One of these days, the Feds are going to run out of a work load, and Wham!!!, they might just open a new chapter in the Satellite Industry! We can only hope!!!<sad147>

LOL! Very good!

And there are still people reading this that will go ahead and work anyway. They will justify it by the fact that they can do 5 a day, think they are making 500.00 a day. they'll always wonder why they don't get ahead, but will never do the math, or believe the actual math as described above to figure out what is wrong.
